there is no shortcut to heaven

you have to go through hell

to get there

you may think that 

you want to change by

turning over a new leaf

that leaf will turn from fresh green

to crispy brown

every thing around you

will crumble and fall apart

everybody you try to love will

continuously break your heart

the closer you try to get to God

the distance will seem worlds apart

you will lose everything 

by death or theft though you may

try to hold on there will be no one

and nothing left 

you will struggle so much

you'll be out of breath

you will suffer so much on your

journey like you never left

you will curse the day

your mother had you 

feeling like God forgot you

you will try your best to win

but you will often lose

asking God why, why God

I'm just trying to make it through

not being able to understand

how come certain doors close on you

you will be overwhelmed and drowning

in humiliation people will move away from

you like you have the plague

and treat you like you have a disease

change is work and it's going to hurt

the truth is it's not sweet

you can't sugar coat it

to make the pill easier to swallow

to keep it real it's going to feel

like you got hit in the head

with an anvil

so it best to have some advil

everything believe me everything

that can possibly go wrong will

you will feel like turning around

and going back 

though some do, don't do that

why? because eventually you

will have to start all over again

returning to places and going through

things that you've already gone through

cry, oh yes my friend you will cry

like somebody you love died

you will become so sick and tired of 

yourself that you won't be able 

to stand your self you will find yourself 

hopeless, helpless, homeless or on the verge

join forces with the devil

you will want to merge

you may even become addicted

to a controlled substance

trying to calm your nerves

you will feel so low depression

will follow you where ever you go

you've had enough feel like giving up

you say whats the use in trying

thinking that you would be better off dying

then you remember when you were in

the den and God shut the jaws of the lion

you were in the furnace but never cremated

you start to see all the places 

you start to see all the times that you

could have been destroyed

I mean taken out but you made it

how? then you smile realizing how close

you came to giving up

knowing you can go another mile

look at you, you have been succeeding 

all the while then you understand 

that you will never go to heaven

because you're already there
