if that's the gist of this,
as we acquire a compass
to our fate...
hopefully, not to drift too far
beyond the stars
...become lost in deliberation,
before and after every other consideration
and concern... cast in the shadows of...

to sip and marinate upon our fortunes,
together or alone
as we glide amidst the drama of our lives...
gathering
what wisdom that we may...
hopefully, having the sense
to build a fence
to keep ourselves
and those we love and care for
safe from the excess and toils
from burning too much oil
choking on the smoke
of too much...
out of touch with the reality
and ...getting burned.
Since the happenstance of discovery
its purpose has been fused
with our rituals and cultural norms
used to accentuate
the promise of romance
to free our self from empty pride
and let us chance to choose
to dance ...and form bonds
which last, perhaps a lifetime
to loosten legs till we get frisky
and with our dance...
do risky moves trying to get our groove
to flap around as if we have wings
and loosten our lips...
to reveal what things
we rarely reveal about ourselves
these ancient spirits
of fermented fruits,
gifts from our ancestral pools,
once summoned, start to spring up
...like Jesus multiplying wine and bread,
whether in the mist of teeming bubbles,
ice cubes or foam, it seems
to continuously pour like rain...
the sweet and bitter elixir that promises
to take away the sharpest edge
of life's consistent pain.
lets celebrate this life
...one last time...
before we get too serious about
things beyond our control...
in a way to lose our collective minds
perhaps somehow we will find out
that we are more alike, than not
and do this... as we do it best
as if this is the last
chance we've got
to get it right

take a chance to smile
and look more deeply
into each others eyes
beneathe the why's

this is the only life we've got
