Full of pride
All signs of adult children
Hot Cheetos and Takis
are essential to their diet
All their friends are doing it
so why can't they try it?
The mentality of adult children
Left alone to fend for themselves
while mama is working or clubbing or texting or taking selfies
This is the plight of adult children
Public educators allow them to sleep
while life passes them by
grooming them for prison or the welfare line
Listen to the cries of adult children
Knowing every dance craze
but lack revelation
Doing anything for attention
Giving into temptation
This is the life of adult children
Can talk about sex
making babies galore
Since they ain't on t.v
Their lives they abhor
These are the thoughts of adult children
Adult children
I guess I was one
Helping take care of my sister instead of having fun
But
Mommy had to go to work
and
Daddy lived far away
And until you become a parent
You'll never understand anyway
or at least
That's what they say
But
I can thank mommy for something
She planted a seed called
RESPECT
and that little seed has outgrown the field of neglect
I can take pride that she worked from
Can't see in the morning
to
Can't see at night
And she made me go to school
and told me to do right
and although
we ain't have everything we wanted
we had everything we might need
Her drive gave me the wheels to succeed
Today I look upon
Adult Children
and tears well in my eyes
cause they have the inverse of my former
and still don't realize
that
All things can and do change
like the ocean's tide
And your attitude is always your untimely demise
Adult children think they know
but will never comprehend
that the best years of life happen when we humble ourselves
and resolve to just be
