Everyone needs a support system
Family I suppose would be number one
but some families get it all twisted
Some fall back on drugs and alcohol
as if that will cure their all
Others may like the Bible
some art and poetry
just to name a few
Mine as far back as I
can remember has always been music
Always with me good and bad times
gives me the rhythm and vibe to just do it
Through the years I have fought the power
with the Isleys, have said it loud I am Black
and I am proud with James Brown
Music keeps me straight
has helped dictate my fate
Like to listen to that music that
gets down to the bone
Music has made me Stand
with Sly and the Family Stone
Music is my lethal and like Sly
without a doubt I am Everyday People
