Romans gave me dogma and idols;

warned me my adherence

to their teaching would be vital

to the very survival of my disembodied self

in the hereafter. (What an oxymoronic term.)

Noncompliance would condemn

that disembodiment to burn.

So I studied their own scriptures,

and what I learned

is….

they had been lying.

Even their daughter denominations

in defying them…….were lying,

BUT still boldly testifying

how they held the truth and light

while continuing to teach

what is not scripturally right.

Perpetuating their old mother’s contradictions

to these so-called holy inscriptions;

still conducting all her hollow benedictions.

Got my people strung on falsehoods

like vicodin prescriptions.

Manifesting symptoms

of an apathetic addiction.

Plagued by complacency

and other such afflictions.

Commanded to just keep

believing without seeing.

Hold up…….You’re telling me

I need to stay blind?

Somehow that struck my @ss

as far more than asinine.

Compared to their teaching,

many lines that I was reading

could only find agreement

once twisted until misleading.

Doesn’t sound like the M.O. of a Supreme Being

that made us in its likeness.

But when I bring that up

I only feel their tightness –

palpable tension.

How dare I mention

that their sacrificial ovine

never taught of the suspension

of Torah?

“If you would enter into life,” then keep it –

meaning observe it fervently.

Yet the preachers never teach this,

EXCEPT to get your ten percent in pocket!

That ONE Jewish Law still stands.

Man,…c’mon….stop it.
