I fell in love with the syncopated rhythms I heard
that gave musicality to her messages.
Her words floated like notes so expressive.
I hoped I could indefinitely remain connected to that moment…
Losing myself in her time…
my heart’s rhythm entrained by her cadences,
my mind fully engaging the matter of her subjects.
Never did I suspect this chance encounter
would spur a course correction,
leading me creatively in a tangential direction.
That night the emcee in me began to cocoon.
I would reemerge as HymnAgen when I left
