Me, myself & I
Have always been my past Obsessions
But I’ve eventually learned my lessons
Took me too long to recognize the blessings
I need to glorify your name
To the heights of fame
For you came
To be a man of shame
Hungered, spit upon and lame!
You came
Because you desired to be like us
The EXACT same
So you could feel our pain
See, smell, and touch the shame of our world so mundane
I must confess that I am much less
But although I have some light
My light is that of a flashlight
Compared
To the light of He who created
Universal elements He manipulated
He who dared
To come down from divine perfection
So He could help us see our true reflection
Help us understand the sinful defection
Highly pitiful
I am bound to be responsibly dutiful
Positively populated with thoughts of passion
Forced to speak, and then immediately show with action
Help me lord
To better detest the lust and hate in my chest
I need to acknowledge that ONLY you could give me rest
That everything all works for the better
Even if I lose my food, shelter and sweater
For it will work out for the good
For I believe I am not deceived
Feeling exceptionally motivated and my spirits relieved!
For I was but a thought even prior to the worlds conception
I was somewhere in your mind bearing a slight resemblance
You made me to be me, which is the exact likeness of you
You made me to be an old soul and yet I am today, a man brand new!
I have to glorify and praise your beautiful name
For to live for Christ is my highest aim,
For to me, to live is Christ and to die is to gain
You are whom I truly desire to mimic
My life no longer feels like a joke or a gimmick
I believe YOU suffered such torment and affliction
To resurrect me and take away my addiction
I know YOU are not a mythical or even something mystical
Because it’s you that fills my mind with words for my lyrical
I used to be the one who was extremely cynical
Thought on my own, I could reach my pinnacle
But then your grace found something to use me for
When I used to be such a bore like a torn rug on the floor!
But now I look forward
To what’s in store
Because I have given you my entirety
And now it is you whom dwells in my core
And that’s for sure
Because without this spiritual an-ti-virus
I can’t have any cure
You give me the power to not fall for the worlds allure
And you give me strength to have great self security
You are the one that sanctifies and gives me purity1
I just wanna end this message on a kind side note
That I wanna look back one day
And see what THROUGH ME, you had wrote
So I can feel good knowing
That by me being humble to be used
Your character and Will through my visage were glowing
Your abundant love for humanity was showing
I don’t want to pretend to be a man all-knowing
But IT IS because of you
That I continue my growing!
