They always told me the sky is the limit
I got my wings now, i can fly, i'm livin
High in the sky just to start my day
I've made it this far I hope I won't get shot on my way 
You see there's many more up here who're trying like me
Melanin and black excellence is all I see
Gods and Goddesses cover the sky
But down below they're scared to see that black bird fly
They'll shoot us down without a second thought
For several centuries this is how they were taught 
A couple of my brothers down there because that's all they knew 
They justifying us getting murdered like "they're doing what we do" 
His blindfold thicker than the oldest of molasses 
He always sleep, but talking about the upper classes 
Wake up brother and take flight with me 
There's greatness being in the sky you'll see 
My sister, take flight this is for you too 
Wake up, there's greatness prepared for you 
And now the skies fill with darkness 
But that's light for us 
We're now awake and conscious
