When the earth cries out in anguish once again we are led to realize,
Each step in the dance we do each day for every moment of our existence
Has more importance than vanity/ pretense …this humanity
If not only for our sanity …is for the sanctity in our very lives.
Before... Mother Nature, calls us lovingly back to her once more
After her patience spent being so long ignored, we are spanked and sent to bed
For this lesson, not wasted in the good, to be shaken back into reality
Until we awaken, no longer adrift in chaos, knowing what for...
As she sings her song, watching us like a mother to her dear children,
Stroking our heads softly with miraculous wonders, which amuse and delight
Bring babies smiles, as children play among the stars and moonlight
With a sun to shine in reassuring rhythms that we all know so well,
Giving us a way to calm our fears, when we no longer
Have the option of turning a blind eye to compassion,
She listens, both as we suffer losses and moan with desire
Cares about our tears, giving us one another to make it easier
For it is we who bear the grief, the sorrow and the pain.
And we are covered once again by layers of warmth
While the dark earth turns once again as it has before
Cold flesh feeling the suns warming kiss no more.
To be laid to rest among a gathering of souls who know us best.
And with those passed before us watching from beyond
Our sole reminder the only limit to the power to love
Is flowing here within us for these reasons we exist
That which has come to pass, before the hourglass
We must continue to live as if this day is not the last
As countless troubled times before this have come and gone
To will continue until we are no more,
We only have one another to embrace
In this our quest to live
…in this to find love
Our final test.
