HBCU's are a space in the nation
Where Black students don't feel isolation
They Feel they can win
Comfortable in their skin
Not on the margins of good conversations

A few people have already said it
Folks are giving the Trumpster some credit
His hate on display
Put Black classrooms in play
Helped to show that our schools still have merit

Robust recruitment plans helped a lot
Students flocking to fill open slots
Enhanced outreach of sorts
Help them to court
Kids who used to give Black schools no shot

Like Maya Angelou advised
HBCUs can say "Still I Rise"
Other cultures have at least one
Brandeis and Brigham Young
Can't allow Black Grad numbers to die
