Skin Deep

who said darkness lacks

why should their be strong expressions

about the color of my back

I am only a display

of the opposite of day

I am that of a portrait

that was painted this way

categorize me by my character

If you may

please stop oppressing me

no one is born with racism

something that you practiced

and wanted to be

why isn't equality

not even apart of the equation

why should their be teachings

of our limitations

racism racing first

who should be last

or who should be considered

the outcast

why are we the bull's eye of demonstrations

we all put one foot in front of the other

no such thing as second hand color

doesn't matter the different shades

of a sister or brother

when Eve was created to be our mother

we are all apart of different cultures , sculptures

this or the other

we can play the game

let us begin

by not playing that card called

color of skin again
