Fall

The fall comes early this year

I feel the coldness in the air

My bones begin to ache

My hands tremble and start to shake

I awake alone in bed

So long since I’ve slept alone

This time for good

This time fall came too soon

We are never prepared

For the feelings of confusion that linger in despair

Fall

I knew you would come as sharp as a knife

I knew one day we’d have this fight

You are much too weary and much too brown

All your leaves have fallen softly

And sarcastically paint the ground

I wrap myself in a jacket

In hopes I will avoid

The storm

But it starts to rain

I slip and grip the rail

Below the staircase

Miles of unknown resistance

A forever journey

Depleting my accomplishments

I choke

I wake

For the sake of fall

Beautiful. Great imagery. I enjoyed this read. As Fall leaves fall to nourish mother earth, let depleted accomplishments fall to nourish new beginnings. Peace and Love, mlowe5
