A TRIOLOGY ON THE REVOLUTION...

                              1.

Televising—they portray what they think

Of who and what we were—reverse reality;

Careful as you watch—least you blink a wink

And miss the veiled, treacherous tragedy.

The new birth of freedom wavered and slowly faded;

The new Jim Crow veiled itself and quickly flourished…

Yet at one point—deceived, we thought we had made it

Then the trump card negated what we had nourished.

Come, let us decide what will be televised as breaking news;

Let us control the illusions and delusions of the hungry press;

Let us no longer be the headlines of the used and abused;

Let us be the amazement of the rise of the once oppressed.

Yes brethren/sisters, free your mind and you are;

Come family, let us all celebrate the coming of Adar!

                          2.

The revolution will not be fought

with weapons of destruction

Nor will there be endless marches

or useless chants;

Nor will there be weary worn feet

and hoarse voices echoing vacuous words.

It—the revolution—will not be

a televised ignominy of breaking news!

The revolution coming

will claim the time of the freeing of the mind:

A quiet explosion of the revelation of change

from a chained to free mind.

The mind set of our youth will be revised—exorcised

and unmaimed: Revolution is change;

Our siblings will no longer be the same—shamed.

                                   3

They say the revolution will not be televised;

Yet brothers and sisters, let us not be surprised.

Let us not forget the false news and their lies—

Are they not televising the daily taking or our lives?

Revolution is about change; yet for us, it’s still all the same:

Like ripe black plumbs, we remain strange fruits to hang.

Revolution can also mean revolving back from whence it came;

You know—like making things great again…with the honored chain!

What must be not televised, is our arrival at the new solution—

Not revolutionary change but changing change of evolution.

Indeed, the evolving of the mind from the chattel to the free

Is a mental quantum leap that can’t be captured on their TV.

No, the freeing of minds of yours and mine will not be televised;

Wounded minds will be revitalized, free and forever revolutionized.
