You’re somewhere
Sober.
Meanwhile
For me,
It’s over.
I’ve never been
Under so many influences
In my life.
I never thought
This is what it would take
To keep you
Off my mind.
Perhaps
I should be more mindful
Of tomorrows.
Perhaps
Better days will follow.
But for the moment,
My current situation
Has me contemplating
Washing it all away.
Can’t believe
You allowed her to take my place
Right in my face.
I know we had a lot
On our plate
But,
I never thought
You would leave dirty dishes
At the table
And reach for fables
To tuck you in.
Can’t really say
That it was a common end...
...because
I know you’re somewhere
Sober...
