This a true story early January heading to the airport 30 day leave
over am headed to Vietnam Had told the family I only wanted Dad
dear oh Dad favorite Dad of mine to take me to the airport as I
didnt want a bunch of crying Back then 1970 there wasnt all the
security It was about a 6ft link fence seperate people from those
boarding the plane which was about 10 yards away As I got
about 3 quarters up the stair My Dad call my name out I turned and he
said remember aint no heroes in the Woodward family I pointed my
finger and said Gttcha Pop He was basically saying go on over
there and come on back He was a Marine during WW11 and he was
being shipped to japan from Hawaii when they dropped the Atomic
bomb and did not have to go
