warm day along my journey
I decided to cool off a little
a patch of grass along a tranquil lake
noticing it
just off my beaten path
a little time I will take
careful not make waves
not even a ripple is to be seen
when I slowly dip my tired feet
into this oasis in the forest
most calm and serene
seen on the other side
five swans a swimming
circular motion
dancing
a perpetual circle they made
I watched and basked in their beauty
and accomplishments
while cooling in the shade
in the quietness of the forest
their voices were so clear
beautiful
real
accomplished swans they are
and they did notice me watching from the other side
very near to them
sensing no danger
and I
sensing no danger from these
five lovely
and accomplished
swans a swimming
dancing in a circular motion
although not invited to their board room
I was welcome to listen and observe
and learn how they got where they are
where they are going
from near and far
and tales of where they have been
beautiful
accomplished swans
not by luck
they said it would be nice to have
but never a need for a companion duck
said one swan who flapped a wing
as she gracefully turned
I sat quietly across the lake
and listen
and learned
from these most beautiful
and accomplished
swans a swimming
dancing in a circular motion
just across the lake
slowly rising from my position
for tranquility sake
appreciating the time in their company
actually learning quite a few things
while they swam in a circular motion
a beautiful dance
performed with their wings
perfect timing
in an almost military choreography
