Beautiful Immortality (The Turning Moon)

CATEGORY

romance

The moon was full, a silver eye
That watched me weep, then watched me die
I lay in robes of dusk and thread
My breath a ghost, my soul half-fed

He came in silence, crowned in flame
Then he whispered low my beautiful name
“You are the dusk, the blood, my bride
Come walk with me where stars have risen before they have died”

His hand was warm, his voice was smooth as vintage wine
He tenderly kissed my neck and made it his, no longer mine
No scream, no pain, just a sacred hush
As midnight bloomed in a velvet blush

The moon grew wide, the veil grew thin
And I let go of what had been
He drank my breath, I drank his vow
And time unspooled beneath my brow

My veins grew still, my heart grew dim
And yet I loved, and yet loved him
He crowned me not with gold or gem
But with his blood, his soul, his generational stem

I rose in robes of velvet encased in celestial's flame
Reborn beneath his whispered name
Now every moon recalls that night
When dusk became my sovereign right

I sing this lullaby to keep
The sacred vow we made in deathless sleep
And when he calls, I shall always come
His infinitive flame, his bride, his heart's loud drum
