I Am Not Your Mirror, I Am The Flame

You said I’m not perfect, as if perfection was ever your gift to give. As if your tongue, slick with ignorance, could define the divine blueprint I walk in

You called me a monkey, but I’ve seen monkeys climb higher than your spirit ever dared

They swing from trees rooted deeper than your shallow breath

You tried to shrink me with a name that reeks of colonial rot,  but I am not your caricature, not your verbal dagger, not your projection

I am the echo of ancestors who danced in chains and still sang freedom

I am the skin kissed by sun, the rhythm that birthed civilizations while your lineage was still learning to crawl

You say I’m not perfect. I say I’m not yours to judge

Not your stereotype, not your scapegoat, not your mirror

I am the flame. And you? You are the smoke, fading, choking, trying to rise where negative indifferences does not belong

So keep your poem

I’ll keep my crown

And next time you speaking in reference, do so with reverence, dignity, and class, or not at all
