Run!

grabbed my bike

by the handlebars

ran in the direction of home

still running

jumped full stride

landing on the seat

feet found the pedals,

fast

pushed against them

strong, pumping long strokes

pushing against them

fast as i can

dark clouds racing across the skies

street lights flicker to life

in waves it seems

hearing far distant thunder blasts

offset from the lightning flash

makes for a frightening scene

foreboding signs

this is not a dream

a cold blast of frigid air drops

down upon us

strong winds kick up loose dust

sending ghost trails racing away

swiftly to vanish mid air

melting into the scenery

with powerful blasts

lost in history

faster than the huge droplets of rain

leave furrows where they've struck

on the loose dry soil

making signs, like random footprints

wreaking havoc

on the hapless small insects

left behind by their bro's

as if saying we didn't know

this was that serious

storm winds continue beating upon

on the grass and the trees

which seem to scream

let us be

perhaps a bit

dramatic, you say

but all the same...

At least

the way the wind

shakes branches and leaves

makes it seem

that way to me

thinking that

racing full speed

if you bob and weave

you might get

less wet...

insane as it seems

its a game

that kids play

while...

racing home

to beat the rain
