Hurricane Katrina - 20 years later

On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina stormed through New Orleans and Louisiana. The only difference was, in New Orleans (intentional or not), the levees broke.  
The flood waters flooded the 9th ward and most of the city causing tremendous flooding, devastation, destruction, damages, desertion, depression, dislocation, death and more.
It was a world wide wake up call to see the suffering and feelings of loss, loneliness, abandonment, uncertainty, survival, sadness and cruelty.  

Just last month in July, I saw a documentary on Surviving Katrina. It was a 5 part series that showed the complete devastation and destruction as to what was actually happening in and around the city.  
It showed the Convention Center, the Super Dome, people stranded on rooftops, death, city officials, confusion, hurt, tears, cries for help, etc. This was my first time in 20 years actually getting to see what the world was seeing and all that was happening in...

I see another answered prayer

You see me as a single woman with 5 children  
I see me as a woman of strength

I see me prospering

You see me as scared
I see me as a conqueror  
You see me sick  
I see me healed  
You see me with a bonnet on my head  
I see God’s covering and protection over me

You see me as rejected  
I see me as redeemed  
You see me not married  
I see me living in peace  
You see me as forgotten  
I see me as Chosen…

I see God while you see me.  

Penny Shortage

If there is a “Penny” shortage, how can we say, “A penny for your thoughts” if there is no penny?

I love pennies. Walking supplements your income.  
Do you know how many pennies I find that has been walked over and overlooked, because nobody wants to pick up a penny?  
Some people are like, “Girl, it’s just a penny, who cares?  
Let me let you in on a lil secret, I care. Girl, I will push you down to pick that penny up.

People ask God to bless them abundantly and financially, yet when they see a penny (which is a financial blessing), they walk over it. God is saying, why should I bless you with bigger blessings, when you don’t even appreciate the little blessings.  
Me, I appreciate ALL my blessings, big and small. Thank You Father.

Shout out to Chrysler

Yeah, shout out to Chrysler for making an Amazing car, a Hard Hitter! First of all, Happy 20th Birthday to you, a 2006 Chrysler 300 C.  
This is an example of what one means when they say a car was built to last. Imagine having a 2006 Chrysler 300 C in the year 2026.

So as of today, the car has 179,000 miles on it. At about 104,000 miles the engine went out, but luckily it was under an extended warranty so a new engine was replaced. Now with a NEW engine comes a new start, so technically it was now at 0 miles. So really in all actuality as of today, it has only 75,000 miles on it.

It’s leather interior, wood grain, Hemi V8 engine, sunroof and the battery is in the trunk, that was different, never seen that before. 

This 20 year old car is holding its own. EVERY part of the vehicle understands its assignment. Yes, EVERYTHING does what needs to be done. What I mean by that is, the windshield wipers wipe, they are automatic, ...

NBA Finals

Oh wee, oh wow! Well, well, well. Looka here!
Look how much we are being loved right now. Everybody loving da Blacks! I mean, ain’t nothing wrong with that, that’s a “Good” thing.
But it makes me wonder, where are all those who don’t like the Blacks, and don’t think the Blacks deserve reparation? 
Where are all those that wanna remove slavery as if it didn’t exist?  
The Blacks are the ones that suffered from slavery, yet we are the ones yall are intimidated by. But why? We are definitely not yall problem.  
We should be the least of yall worries. Baby yall got Bigger fish to fry. Yall need to be worried about that old, old, old, old, old, old, old, old, man of yall own kind that’s instilling division and hatred on a daily basis.  
The one that intimidates yall, belittles yall, threatens yall and demands yall do what he says or else.

The Staffer did It

Not I said the chicken. "It wasn't me."  
In other words, it was me until it wasn't me.

Ok, so a picture was posted on an old, old, old man’s social media account, and when I say “old” old man, I’m talking someone who’s closer to 100 than he is to 50, someone who Loves late night posting and living in denial.

The picture was a racist picture depicting President Obama and his lovely wife Michelle Obama in a degrading manner. It was humiliating and a disgrace and it was done by someone of poor character, low class and pathetic.  
The picture was posted late at night and “they” said a “staffer” did it.  
Now we are supposed to believe that a staffer would have the AUDACITY to be that bold to post something on “THIS” old man’s account.  
What “STAFFER” in their right mind would even think to do something as post a racial, degrading photo as this one on this old man's account knowing the blame ...

Dear Mini Me

A Letter to my Mini Me,

Dear Mini Me,  
Welcome to this world. I know you are only a few days old, but I decided to write you this letter and read it to you. You’ll have it to look back on as you get older.   

There’s a lot of changes to this world since I first entered.  
Cell phones, computers, electric cars, social media and technology are some of the big changes.  
I have literally seen the world go from a rotary phone, to a wall phone, to a cordless phone, to beepers, to cell phones.  
Even though segregation ended in the 1960’s, sometimes I wonder, because even today, we still somehow race with racism, but we have overcame a lot. Don’t worry, you will learn more about our Black History later.

Be excited my lil Mini Me, because this is a big, big world with so much to do and so many places to visit. So many cities, states and countries with lots of different cultures, styles of fas...

Womb Mate

A Gift from God -  
On an unexpected day, I discovered that I no longer lived alone.  
Without applying for or putting up a sign of vacancy or even a for rent sign, I am now renting out a space within. Yes, within my body. I guess you would say, an Airbnb rental. I wouldn’t say you a squatter, but yeah, you just popped up and showed up and found you a nice, warm place to stay.  
And although I didn’t ask for a roommate, I now all of a sudden have a womb mate. My womb mate did not sign a lease, yet somehow became a part of my lease.  
Alright, I see now, I see what’s going on. I see we got some figuring out to do, but it is what it is and we gon be alright.

I was now no longer one. The day you entered into my womb, you became my responsibility, to love, care and nurture.

The amazing thing yall is, overtime, my womb mate and I became best friends. We did everything together and went everywhere tog...

We are One

We are One.  
Although some may beg to differ, but in all actuality, we are one, created by One.

You believe in God, you pray to God, you cry out to God, you worship God, but you got hatred and divisiveness in your heart. You have jealousy, animosity, bitterness, anger and resentment in your heart.  
Yet you go to church, mass, Bible study, church retreats, you sing in the choir, you’re on the usher board, you are a catechist, you’re the leader of the youth ministry, a cardinal, a deacon, a member… So how could this be?  
What are they teaching you in the church? What are you learning? Are you listening? Ask yourself, is your behavior godly behavior?

You believe in God, you pray to God, you cry out to God, you worship God, yet you lie, you hate, you are mean, you curse, you abuse, you are evil and vindictive… and that shouldn’t be. That is NOT of God.  
How can you pray to God and want blessings, strength, ...

Buckle Up

Parents hug your children, love your children, spend time with them, don’t just give them money to get out your face, let them know they are special, give them praise when they deserve it, acknowledge them so they won’t grow up old, miserable and bitter, never feeling loved or worthy, longing so desperately for attention, any attention, ALL the attention.

I never seen such a “Pick Me, Pick Me” person in all my days. Looka me, looka me… “I had the Biggest… I had the Most, nobody ever did it like me, I did it better, I deserve the award, give it to me…”  
And the audacity to select yourself to be the “acting” whatever you want to call it and just take over and wanna run someone else’s house when yo own house is ran down in shambles, in disarray, filled with chaos, confusion, disruption and corruption is so diabolical.
