Spoken Soil
Yesterday is rarely easy,
to let it fall away like autumn
from the branch.
Life can stall you,
a ligature—
or bind you to your purpose
like a tether.
The fallen leaf can turn to rot,
but the tongue gives you a
green thumb
for turning present ground.
