Choking the Hunger (A Token From My Childhood)
The kitchen cupboards were
underprepared for us.
Four minority minors crying out,
hands chocking the hunger.
Our eyes wandered wide at one
another,
all wondering through the pain.
What will we eat today?
Until the eldest of us discovers
a single soup.
We had one bowl, but each a
spoon.
Still enough to move the room.
