I watched her as she started, even though she never knew I was looking

She stared at her challenge with thoughts raging through her head

Once feared that she would be dead, she overcame that

Bouncing here and bouncing there, only to end up on top after the final bounce

So with every ounce of strength in her she began her race

The pace kept getting switched up, because that what life does

It alternates between slow, fast and just hurry up mode

Breakdowns would sometimes implode her, yet they molded her

She didn’t know I was watching back then, and she still may not know I’m watching now

But I stay in the crowd, looking for motivation when I need it most

Sometimes, a person’s #1 fan never meets their superstar

They sometimes sit back and watch them, just to inspire themselves

Even if they are a self motivator themselves

While I lift, she runs

Two different souls with two different goals

At the same time, one in particular is a common connection

Wanting the same thing, patiently waiting on that to come

But in the meantime, she set trails, while struggling over trails

Leaving trails of the past behind her in order to maybe find her self

And at the end, and she crosses the finish line

She looks back at what she overcame

And stands alone at the mountaintop overjoyed

Meanwhile, her number #1 fan sits back with a smile

See you don’t always have to be in someone’s galaxy to be their star

Rather you don’t need to be a woman’s man to extend your supportive hand

Sometimes, all you have to be is a true friend
