I was betrayed at the age of six
It’s safe to say I haven’t been the same since
My childhood ended
Along with my innocence
Tried my best but couldn’t make sense of it
It took me years to comprehend
What had taken place
And when all of the pain would end
Only way of coping was trying my best to pretend
It was normal or better yet never happened
I never said a word
Was threatened and felt ashamed
My mother would only blame herself
I couldn’t let her live with the guilt so I kept it all to myself
As I got older the memories suppressed
Issues remained
Impossible to keep in check
A inability to trust authoritative figures
The feeling that anyone in power is out to get you
Never allowing anyone close enough to cause harm
All of this caused by a childhood scarred
