like the animals
in a zoo,
we roam freely
within our allowed
spaces---caged
and confined, yet
our cages are invisible---
we, like the unbarred
elephants,
no longer chained,
oblivious to his power,
will not move
beyond the mental keloid
chain hooked around our brain:
today, we just march
and sing sad songs
aping a caged bird,
crying to fly away home.
