just different

my mood can sometimes be somber

when I find myself pondered in wonder

it's not raining but I hear the thunder

I'm still but still my heart is racing

in a short distance I can see far

beyond empty spaces in public places

the kind of pain that cripples and blinds

the fear that stops us in our tracks

those who panic and turn to run back

to the empty shell that they fled

those who have misplaced the footsteps

of their journey

those who are afraid to shed their skin

for fear that it would be the end

those who do not know that

they could never not be

those who refuse to believe

those who think that their fate

is sealed in Adam and Eve

those who need to take their time

and just breathe the energy

of their own existence

those who do not ask for help

but need assistance

just because we know where we are

does not mean that we're not lost
