we know that to be true
but it also has to matter
to those who are black too
do not spend
we are supposed to be
boycotting
but my people are gone shopping
unable to resist a bargain

buy one get one free
because we do want free
that’s how we were sold
on the block in slavery
bargaining and auctioning
how can we love the word
FREE
when we don’t take out time
to stand for our own FREEDOM
by not spending a dime
it seems to happen every time
duped by the flashing
open sign
we talk, talk, talk
but do we really
get off the bus and walk
