"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails" 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
It is the first thing we ever truly feel
Yet we wonder if it's really real
Searching for something true
Just someone who means it when they say "I love you"
The concept of love has morphed over the years
Changed by insecurities and fears
Selfishness, conditions and the need for a title
Why can't it be simply as it is in the bible
Your love can abuse you
Say sweet things to use you
Say and act like they'll always be there
When in reality they never did care
How can you love someone and cause them pain
Using something so precious, in vain
Covering up with being human as an excuse
Yea we fall short, to lean on that, I refuse
To simply try to understand someone won't cost a thing
Being kind to people can easily lessen life's sting
Care for the sake of caring takes no energy
Honestly its more stressful making someone your enemy
The relationship between the two people doesn't matter
Friends, family, kindred spirits, we eat from the same platter
Everyone was once a stranger so why not get along
Is just being a decent human being so wrong?
So, if only a little bit, why not open your heart
Even if you're just kind to everyone, it's a start
Imagine what kind of peace we could achieve
Love never fails, this is what I believe
