the dog has gone, he’s left his bone

there is even a note …signed with a paw print…

left by the telephone

says,

what did he ever do to you?

except wagging his tail,

fetching …your newspaper

and shoes…

what was wrong with you?

you were angry when you came home

and you kicked him,

what for?

…that really

ticked him off…

he damn near

bit you then,

he thought you

was a friend,

he will damn sure bite you

if he ever sees you again

and when you opened

the door and off he tore

the note says

that he’s sick and tired

of being treated bad and teased,

being fed soggy biscuits,

suffering from ticks and fleas,

and an itch that you won’t scratch

or pay for potions to relieve...

tired of being dissed, ignored

and worse of all

sleeping on that

coldfloor, 

he’s tired of all the abuse,

he just cannot take it,

anymore.
