ON THE BATTLEFIELD OF HOPE
The night sky
slept deep and long;
as if to cheat the twilight
peeping over the horizon.
Snow-like yawning clouds
descended like a veil on a stage;
shadowing scrambling creatures
scurrying into and out
of the dawning of the day—
during the time of which we would seek
to make justice and peace a lasting reality
in a weary world wrought with fear, misery
And mendacious hopelessness—seemingly!
Then the sun came.
Our hopes were still alive.
We rose and fought another day.
