Life Within A Bounce

CATEGORY

first love

As a young girl living in an black and white ghetto, who would of known that an simple round ball would provide my blinded soul with such colors of freedom. A home within a home I could never be rejected from, never be forced to leave if I disobeyed a rule of the game, never felt unloved for these courts where my first love, I shall never forget the name "Spalding".

Over the last year's I've seen this place break my heart as it loved and cherished the other teams, watched blood, sweat and tears comfort it's hands, and my dreams becoming life with every second I was forced to become number one in your eyes. An angel asked me "if you had the chance to trade it all in would you, trade the chances of living a normal life?".... I hesitated as if it was a trick answer but it was only my fear of the thought that if it wasn't for this ball...this game..this life where would I be...better yet if I be alive this today.

Refuge from the burden streets, place where I feel like a star everybody shouting my name cheering as if I'm a hero from the hood making a difference for my family...but am I setting a good example for there are many more ways out the projects to the mansions and bills then through a ball...a dribble....a shoot. It's a way for my mother not to worry if she can afford to put me through college, a way for my father to feel accomplished of the efforts of being a coach more than a father his only daughter needed, its a way for me to feel proud that I can do something on my own but this isn't my life goal number one draft pick, all American no it's just how I live everyday to be successful with the opportunity of breathing within a simple game

For I had realized long time ago my love for my only first love faded  when black apples turned red and the stars finally broke from jail and began granting wishes. That we weren't meant to last forever but an impact of long impressions for a lifetimes to come affect the next set of eyes that once was like mines when I was a little girl...
