You woke up this morning,
On the edge of a nightmare, at the brink of today's fears,
So I sang this song to endorse a stream of inevitable tears,
Diaper change, wash your face and brush those teeth,
Put on a new dress, and get a bit to eat,
Its okay to cry, you're only two, So you don't have to,
Dry your eyes, sweetie pie, because....
Big girls, its okay to cry-i-i...
Don't hold it inside,
Big girls, let those teardrops fly...
Wintertime on the east side of Michigan,
Today's your check up at our pediatrician,
We're sitting in the lobby patiently waiting,
You're nervous, cuz you hate getting all these immunizations,
The nurse said, "after I prick her,
I'll give her a pink lollypop and an red Elmo sticker,"
Tears, fear, betrayal, and confusion all appear on your face,
Its okay to cry Sweetpea, I promise you'll get ice cream at our favorite place,
I know it hurts, a shot in your arm and thigh,
but just remember....
Big girls, its okay to cry-i-i...
