How November 2016 felt

CATEGORY

just different

November 2016,
Was somewhere between reality and a dream,
The Cubs won and so did Donald Trump,
Gas was $2.25 at the pump,
It was unusually warm and the moon was huge,
Many didn't notice instead they cried the blues,
We moved across the country,
Bought and sold a home, seemed like a made up story,
Daily living in hotels and eating fast food,
Paying tolls, tips, fees, and taxes, put me in a foul mood,
In a new place watching the news,
Wondering who, what, and where they was talking about,
Gridlocked traffic jams, damn I miss the south!
Prices and taxes In the Northeast,
Right before your eyes seem to rise like yeast,
And take bread right from under your thumbs,
As your funds drain down, you frown and give ones to some bums,
Then feel a chill, break out in a sweat and start to get numb,
Could that be my fate?
"Can you spare some change," scribbled on the back of a paper plate,
Just before the election, I was more confident in my fate,
All that hope and change thinking somehow we could all relate,
The electoral college put the country in reverse,
Passengers trapped on the wrong bus, each mile and minute away feeling worse,
Aimlessly pulling on the line to stop the madness but it don't work,
Some quickly lose hope and say don't bother,
Others relinquish the burden to Jesus and the holy father,
I wrapped my shirt on my elbow and bang repeatedly to break the glass,
Hoping that I can jump when the bus isn't moving so fast,
Most think I'm crazy, and tell me to stop,
Others get scared when they can't recognize the block,
You can't stop the driver or convince the others to command,
Get bruised, bloody, and free - our fate is in your hand.

Moving is a major event alone. The election makes everything "retro different". It was a rough month for most Americans! You have graphically captured the feeling for many. Good job!
