Tell me about the first love you had

The first time you felt your heart race

In your stillness

How up was down, in was out

And your voice betrayed your calm.

Tell me how it felt when he held your had

How a single touch became electrifying

How it felt when he held you

And you dreamt of sinking into

That forever.

Tell me what it was like to first bare

Your soul to another person

Showing him scars in corners

Where your deepest fears festered

And how, when he told you he loved you,

You weren't so naked in your vulnerabiliy

You felt safe.

You felt whole

You felt home.

Tell me about your first heartbreak

When you started wondering if this was enough

If you were enough

When you realised that once tender kisses

Had now been filled with lust

And how you tasted detachment

On his lips.

Tell me how you scared you were

When he left

And you felt cold in Summer.

And, without a sound,

You were lost.

Tell me how you put up walls

Around your soul

Becomes some wounds don't heal easy,

They just bleed less.

Tell me how you don't think

You're ready for another commitment

Because your first

Broke you.

Tell me and I'll tell you how

Your hair glistens in the sunlight.

I like how it catches the rays,

Welcoming them in with a warm embrace.

Tell me and I'll tell you

That I love the sound of your laugh

And you don't have to cover your mouth

When you do

Because I want the whole world to know

That I made you happy

Tell me, and I'll tell you

That I'll wait until the hair

On my head becomes grey

If it means I'll get one kiss

Because you are everything

You always were.

Tell me, and I'll tell you

That to me, you are endless

In your beauty.

Tell me, and I'll make sure I don't make

The same mistakes he did.

Tell me.

Take your time.

I'm yours.
