Just Knowing
You see it in a toddler's eye
Toward baby Jesus in his crib
Or on your daughter's forehead high
At bedtime kneeling, feeling glib
It was what you see when children pray
And what you feel when soft and low
A child describes the angels play
Or other secrets we can't know
It shows in a boy who on a whim
Will test your faith when a robin shows :
Does God love me as much as him ?
Just see those eyes, you know he knows
We call it faith in you and me
But for a child who's busy growing
God has secrets meant to be
For little heads, just knowing.
