May the beauty of the spirit
of our ancestors—the rocks of ages
and infinite energy—continue to warm
our souls; sustaining and keeping us
as we walk—tracing footprints to our story;
May their rattling bones of recollection
awaken us as we travel serpentine waters
of zigzagging and undulating rivers of memory—
flowing to the sea’s storage places our beginnings;
Indeed, may the salted heat of ancestors’ hearts
dry and cure the moisture of our youth:
that they may walk with pockets full of blessings;
triumphantly surviving today’s testing times.
