Hey! I yelled in a tone angry and dismissive
Then took a moment to digest what I had just witnessed
The back of an old, fat, bald white man between the legs of a black teen
In a bathroom at the mall, it was the strangest scene
Confused as I saw another dude rush to wash his hands and go
I waited to get both of their attention – WTF! I had to know
What should I do, what could I say?
How could this happen in the middle of the day?
My curiosity was soon fed
When the old man turned around, here’s what he said…
‘This is my f@+$!#g business and you need to mind yours!’
The young man had a huge gold grill, the diamond letters spelled ‘George’
He handed the guy a huge wad of $20’s, he counted it with no gloves
The old man’s finger nails and hands were so dirty that I wished he’d had just sold him drugs
George ignored us both still staring in the mirror smilin’
The old man was humming, but I was still willin’
George was hypnotized by the shine of grill in the mirror as I watched in horrid fright
I was flabbergasted, I guess the old man was right
The rest of the day was a blur and I couldn’t sleep that night
As I watched them leave the bathroom I felt sad for them both
The next day I volunteered to tutor kids to mentor and inspire hope.
