She was sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder
killed her husband because she got tired of him hurting her
He physically beat her for years
But she remained silent and strong for the children hung in there and held back the tears
The community was shocked because they didn't know
To them, they seemed like the perfect couple
A lot of people say she should have left and that she was crazy
But you weren’t in her shoes, you didn't know that lady
She did what she thought was right
And it still cost her, her life
If she would have told anyone he would have killed her without hesitation
So, you see she was in a no-win situation
But the justice system didn't see it that way if you do the crime
Then you must do the time
But to me, she had already done time in jail
Living with him and going thru years of hell
It's like from the grave he is still winning
Because no one here's her cry nor will they listen
Society is ignorant when it comes to domestic violence
That's why so many women keep their silence
Just because you don't see a cut or bruise
Doesn't mean that a woman is not being abused
So, society please wake up and see
That abuse isn't a joke and it could be
Your mother, sister, or auntie.
