40 years in the wilderness

After God helped Moses and his people escape from Egypt

God explained the following edict

Travel to the promised land and I will care for y’all and provide

After years of wandering in the dessert the tribes thought God and Moses had lied!

When food ran low, each morning God provided manna bread

This kept them fed but soon they wanted some meat instead!

So God sent the Israelites a bunch of quail

It tasted just like chicken, everybody had pounds by the pail!

Still deep in the desert, the tribes begged Moses for some water to drink

Moses prayed to God cuz’ these ‘Hebrews’ nagging brought him to the brink!

God told Moses to tap a rock lightly with his staff

He struck it twice (hard) in haste, frustration, and wrath

A river of fresh water flowed, cold, clean, and refreshing

But the Israelites still complained about everything, which slowed their progression

So God sent a swarm of snakes to bite and teach each a lesson

They got bit quick, then got real sick

But God was merciful and told Moses to gather a bunch of sticks

And fashion a snake statue

People were instantly healed if Moses pointed it right at you

This journey continued for 40 years for every, man, woman, and child

God, life, lessons, blessings, and complaints somewhere in the wild...
