she opens herself up
waiting for a second look
false eyelashes blinking
a gaze she mistook
as wanting her
she cracks a smile
but all the while
he passes her by
he glances into
the eyes of a child
he knows the look
that she mistook
as he walks away
he prays that she
will be okay.

WOW! Thanks. 58 years ago I wrote a poem that ended: "She, the child; She, the Mother." You write gives me flowing tears. Write on my Poet; write on. Thanks ("tears of joy"). Peace and Love, M'Lowe.
