Is this the pinnacle of my life?

Unable to see beyond the years of rife.

Blind for so many years my reflection I could not see,

A life filled with dysfunctional friends and family.

Now the reflection shows me seemingly uncertain of my true identity.

Can there be redemption for the woman in the mirror?

Who's now ready to let go of all the latent anger.

I didn't understand the realities of my life principles,

Yielding to the lust of my heart which led to unyielding emotional battles.

Are there solutions to unwavering unwanted emotional and mental discord?

Can there, is there redemption, redemption as a medicinal cure?

MAKING HARD CHOICES 

It definitely involves doing what’s right
Being mature alleviating the spirit of contrite 

Not allowing humiliation to have its control 
Instead surrendering in order to be connected to the inner soul

It’s gaining strength to handle challenges with truth 
Trusting while allowing a higher power to guide you through 

No more self betrayal 
Instead commitment, diligence, and perseverance.

Setting goals and having measurable steps in order to be successful 
Suiting up only surrendering to the win win of the battles

It’s circumcising parts of the flesh
Ridding whatever keeps you from being your best

Not allowing the expression of others interpretation of you to become your identity 
Especially when you’re unable to maintain and/or shift your thoughts toward positivity

I hear you loud and clear.

Saying conversations are to be held concerning gun control future.

How many more terrible acts of violence must occur?

Before the realization of making guns illegal can make things better.

Sure the NRA will reap a loss;

Nothing in comparison to the chaos guns cause.

Most often the innocent put at harm:

All because some unlawful use of a gun.

Mass shootings, after mass shootings and clues going unnoticed,

With the aftermath bringing mental health more into focus.

Taking away from the initial problem on hand;

Which is making the decision that guns should be banned.

Just a matter of standing toe to toe with the NRA.

Making them accountable for laws not being obeyed.

The government knows the war against drugs and gun control,

Did I write out my life

Did I write my future unknowingly 

Putting it on paper and it turned out to be true

How could I have known to write more of a positive outlook

When most if not all my surroundings was just the opposite 

A past dealt growing in the hood

Being told 2nd best was my could

Looking back at what I've accomplished 

All while experiencing anguish and discomfort 

Could I have not worn the horrors of disappointments always wanting to flee

What could I have written differently

FLOTUS /First a Lady

A bit of a cliche, beside every great man there stands a great woman;  behind every great woman there stands an even greater woman.

Eight years ago the world was introduced to a phenomenal lady, Michelle Robinson Obama.

An African American woman who moved into the White House.

Alone with a generation of strong women supported by POTUS who happens to be your spouse.

There's no doubt, you will be remembered.

Not only for the beauty you wore but also for the heart felt words you spoke. 

You are the change of eight years ago;

Change: spoken so eloquently by the man we all know.

Needless to say an old history was conquered.

You became the vision of change delivering the message "yes we can."

It really is, all about choice.

Choosing to be quiet in order to hear your own voice:

You choose whether to live or die,

To be analytical as you put forth efforts to try.

You don't have to stay in a transitioning period.

Considering whether to be unhallowed or be blessed.

Or allow yourself to be dominated and enslaved by your sin,

You can choose to have faith trusting in the deliverance from negativity smothering within.

Choose to stop the ease of shifting blame,

Consistently reneging so you'll not have to change.

(NOT ONE WORD WENT UNNOTICED)

You gave a mighty good speech 

No staggering of words used to teach

Later opinions mentioned of your skin, the color of your eyes

As if no light would be seen without the dark canvas of the sky

Authenticity so what's  NOW

Mighty fine he is, is his the voice of social justice,social change

His truths spoken with vernacular  eloquence and no shame

Now petitions circulating whether he should be fired or keep his job

All because he spoke thoughts from the heart

Hope shows it's face then quickly disappears
Leaving me stagnant in my own fears
Desperate and overwhelmed with a life that's disarrayed
Just hoping to get to a comfortable place

Asking God what must I do
Until what I hope for comes true
Asking how do I keep my faith
And not be tempted while I wait

I believe that which is meant for me
Will some day manifest into reality
Even though Hope present many illusions
Birthing unwarranted emotions that leads to bargaining 

The fantasies that hope brings
Keeps my mind locked in a world of dreams 
Makes me wonder if goodness will ever befall
Or should I continue to hope at all
