Today, I shall sow
Mustard seeds of faith
In the fertilized field
Of my spiritual being
I shall plow and shape
Rows of hope
Reaping and harvesting
The fruits of liberating grace:-
Every mountain of despair
Will be spoken away
And every empty valley
Of desiccated courage
Will be filled with Nile River waters
Baptizing determination—
Resurrecting my dreams deferred.
As is the rising sun,
I am of God’s deliverance
And today there is nothing
That can keep me from rising—
Weighted oppression becoming
As light as liberating butterfly wings:-
