Let me not assume as though I know the person that you are now.
That the love that we once shared still burned in the furnace that reside within the heart that I once called mine.
Has the cup that we used to drank from finally run dry?
Are there no more sequels to this story that we had been writing throughout time?
Or have you found someone else that has offered you more then what I have been able to provide?
There was a time when I was enough,
We would look down upon the earth and reminisce about the lives that we once lived.
Placed bets on who would find who first, as we intercourse under the galaxies…
Making two into one.
I had no doubts that we would not reconnect,
Little did you know I was counting down the days, months, and years until we crossed paths.
Sitting on the doorsteps waiting to see you emerge from the sun as it was setting.
Replaying the memories repeatedly within my head,
Touching, kissing, and loving you so naturally like it were muscle memory.
There were no doubts in my heart that our love was authentic.
There was nothing anyone could say that would force me to believe anything different.
Yet here I am, sitting on the doorsteps.
Watching the sun disappear beyond the trees.
Wondering why you are not here.
Were you lying to me when you assured me that we would meet again?
Are you currently with an imitation of me?
And is he telling you that he is in love with you, and that he is willing to do whatever it takes to keep you?
I wish that I were able to ask you these questions…
To receive the answers that I so desperately need.
Never in my life did I ever think that there would be an ending to forever.
