 Tardy For The Reception

A slice of wedding cake
Did I arrive a tad bit late?
To miss the date, or rain delay
For whom do we, celebrate?
Butter cream with vanilla glaze
I parlay dismay as I slice my filet.
I sat in the bride's section -
Recollecting how we relate.
I cannot forget
The subject, she
A past love which left
To another country.
She traveled to Canonbury
A grove by Asheburton
I slide the curtain, frozen in anguish
Malady and pain, broken and languish.
