A partial lunar eclipse is never just an astronomical event.

During any eclipse, we adopt what our elders call sacred pleasantries, gentle practices meant to honor the sky and steady the spirit.
We do not call upon darkness.
We do not summon shadow.
We simply acknowledge that the cosmos is shifting, and we softly shift with it.
In various households, mirrors are draped with cloth, not to hide from the eclipse, but to keep the home’s energy from scattering.
A covered mirror becomes a symbol of stillness, a reminder that reflection should come from within, not from glass.
Candles are lit in colors that speak to the Moon’s mood:
Silver for intuition
Blue for emotional calm
White for protection.
Their flames flicker like small suns, honoring the solar force that continues to shine even as the Moon slips into shadow.
Herbs are burned in quiet ceremony, sage for cleansing, lavender for peace, rosemary for protection. These scents wafts like prayers, carrying the intention of the women who tend them.
In honor of clarity at the threshold of our home, a small line of salt is placed, a simple gesture of grounding and protection, a tradition carried through generations.

Others sit in silence, letting the eclipse speak in its own language, a language of endings, beginnings, and emotional tides.
Tonight’s eclipse in Pisces deepens this tenderness.
Pisces is the sign of intuition, dreams, and the unseen currents beneath our daily lives. Under this moon, emotions rise like tidewater, truths surface, and the spirit becomes porous enough to hear what it has long ignored.
And so we honor the Moon as she wears her silver veil.
