where we’d become two bodies

sharing one soul

shadow cradles me.

I wouldn’t mind the feel of

your warm breath against

my cheek as well.

skin to the melody, 

while my body exhales.

or at least an endeavor 

of constant embrace.

A steady affirmation when

all else is loosely fitting,

failing to take your shape.

Nothing can take your place.

Not ever. No way.

Each touch, those faint ones that

tickle my senses, 

reminds me of what I am missing. 

You and I, existing far past the

mind’s mere glimpse—

where your rose scent is no longer 

a hint, 

but soaked deep into my warm 

skin. 

Our time spent in this present,

never questioned if our bond was

born long ago.
