Bearing Only A Scar
Brought down by my
undoing, I lay wounded, slowly
dying by a double sword.
One severing my heart, the other
soothing the ache— whispering
she was a risk, with no reward.
Red flags led, and deceived me,
worsening the bleeding,
so I waved the white flag
— bearing only a scar.
