Choking Their Hunger
The kitchen cupboards were
underprepared for them.
Four minority minors crying out,
hands chocking the hunger.
Their eyes wandered wide at one
another,
all wondering through the pain.

— I was reflecting on my childhood
and it took me back to this truth.
Today I am grateful for everything I
have, but with the mindfulness that
today even today this truth belongs
to many other children.
