We lost today what should
be tomorrows children, lost
to cocaine, to crack, to the
brandy in the glass.
Detained inside of prison walls
and buried within their graves,
tear filled eyes so lonely and
sad, yet really unable to cry.
Lost we have those who would have prospered, grown and achieved,
the future president, lawyer and police.
No longer will we have those who
we held close to our breast, for
yesterday and everyday we lay them
to rest.
