bloody from the battle
whoever put a hand down to lift me up
on to my feet after being beat
so deep I still feel it when I sleep
the question is deep because
after the dirt settled all that stood was me
looking around for my company
that deserted me
leaving me for dead
those who did not believe
instead they fled
my tennis shoes and T shirt
went from bleach white to bloody red
my knuckles skinned to the bones
from continuing to try
no intentions to die
fighting for my life
with no one on my side
nothing but cowards
who ran to hide
while I fended for myself
no one called for help
left alone in a struggle
that held on
I tried to break away
to find a way
to put my enemy away
looking around on the ground
for something to be found
to take my life away
that I may start a new
